It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

November 30th, 2010 is without a doubt the earliest date I have ever put up a Christmas tree.  Growing up, our family tradition was to choose a tree on my mom's birthday, December 14th.  Sometimes it was a day or two earlier, but often, we didn't actually put ornaments on until the week before Christmas.

Last year, with Papa Chuck's death on December 22nd, my family didn't get their tree up until Christmas Eve.

Jesse and I have enjoyed decorating our tree the first week of December, but doing it even before that was very exciting!  Waking up on the first day of December with the tree lights glistening in the den really helped jumpstart my Christmas spirit.  We had fun decorating last night!

Boxes down from the attic, ready to decorate!

Tree is up, time to smile and snap a pic :-)

Setting out the tree skirt I made our first year

All done!

Some of Jesse's childhood stuffed animals.  The frog sings (croaks?) "Jingle Bells" and the duck quacks "Deck the Halls."  They're so hilarious!  We play them all the time, and they crack us up :-)

I have a weakness for socks...

Just a little tired after a wonderfully full day!

Merry Christmas!

  1. Awww Bethany your pictures are lovely! What a pretty tree! We got ours the day after Thanksgiving this year, and I'm glad we did because so far, it's much healthier and drinking SO much more water than the trees we've gotten in the past, usually we would wait until the first or second weekend in December. It's definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas! :)
