Mornings are my favorite time with you. As soon as I hear your first little coo (usually between 5 and 6am), I go to your room and pick you up. As soon as you see me, you kick your legs in excitement and reach for me. I love how you sleepily nuzzle into me, wrapping your arms around my shoulder and my neck, holding tight. I bring you back to bed with me, curl up with you, and nurse you. Daddy usually wakes up just enough to put his arms around the two of us, encircling us in his warmth.
I love how as soon as you're finished eating, you smile up at me again until we both drift back to sleep. You are so warm and sweet to cuddle with. I love feeling your tiny body go up and down as you breathe, and the way you wrap your hand around one of my fingers. You make me so happy, Baby Girl.
When it's time to wake up, the biggest smile spreads over your face! It makes my heart burst. You coo and sing and blow raspberries (your newest trick!) and we play games together and try to wake Daddy up.
Morning are such a happy time now that you're in our life. You take away the annoyance of an alarm clock, because waking up to you is our greatest joy.
We love you, Kayleigh Grace!
If one feels the need of something grand, something infinite, something that makes one feel aware of God, one need not go far to find it. I think that I see something deeper, more infinite, more eternal than the ocean in the expression of the eyes of a little baby when it wakes in the morning and coos or laughs because it sees the sun shining on its cradle.
